Manila X Trade Launch

X Marks the Spot

Style. Music. One Festival.

On the 16th of February, both fashion savants and music lovers converged at The Palace Pool Club for the trade launch of the Manila X Festival. It was a night fused with electronic beats and sartorial pieces — the two driving forces behind the festival and its conception.

The Palace Pool Club was transformed into a sight and venue for all the senses

The venue was transformed into a purple-hued party, a sight that was deemed both unusual and refreshing by the guests. As they went in to get settled around the area, they were treated to delectable hors d’oeuvre and drinks. It was then at that point that signalled the start of the first chapter of the Manila X Experience.

In order to give the guests some background about Manila X, the event host Jacob Benedicto interviewed the man and visionary behind the festival, famous fashion stylist John Lozano.

Manila X was born from his young, innovative and versatile idea of fun. An initial idea for what would’ve been just a better avenue for Filipino fashion brands to showcase their creations in has turned into an even more bolder concept.

Suddenly, all eyes were on the stage — illuminated by the purple-tinged Manila X visuals — as everybody waited with bated breath for the fashion show to commence. And at long last, the show was kicked off by DJ Marc Marasigan as he proceeded to take command of the runway. As he played a medley of the hottest club tracks, Kiana Valenciano then emerged, ready to take flight to a sensual and brooding version of the song “Crave You" as the night’s main performer.

Donning clothing pieces from the event’s official clothing sponsor Zalora, the models worked their way up the runway and strutted each piece with such poise, substance and finesse. Never to let things end on a low note, DJ Marc and Kiana then returned as a tandem to close the show with a bang.

As soon as the fashion show ended, the enthused guests — ranging from executives, industry heavyweights to millennials — congratulated the Manila X team on a spectacular show and expressed gratitude for being a part of this revolutionary event. It was then that the afterparty had started and everyone partied the night away to the club-stumping medley of electronic hits. Definitely a fitting conclusion to the introduction of the year’s biggest party.

Happening this June 3-4, 10 participating top brands in the country will set the stage ablaze with their collections together with the backdrop of music — in the form of today’s hottest OPM artists and DJs.

Apart from the visual and sonical spectacle, attendees will also get the chance to shop the pieces being paraded at the fashion bazaars in the festival, highlighting the real-time accessibility for avid style enthusiasts.
