Disney | folded&hung Collection Hits the Streets

Jack Reid fronts the collection dedicated to the fun, fashionable and active millennials of today

Fashion, as we know it, is being shaped every waking day by the trends and influences that surround it. Of late, these so-called forces have been giving more way to the overall look and aesthetic of each individual; and with the peak of social media at its highest and strongest, the landscape in which we inhabit never ceases to revolve.

On the 9th and 10th of September, folded&hung, in collaboration with Disney, reteamed for another collection showcasing the fun, fashionable and active lifestyle of today’s street culture and the very forces that inhabit it – the millennials. The collection, containing elements of streetwear wearability and adaptability, puts the spotlight on the emblematic Disney character known as Mickey Mouse. Albeit a campaign that taps into the very heart and verve of millennial streetwear fashion, the collection also offers pieces that can be worn by the young and young at heart. From classic-colored street style staples to bold and animated pieces, the lineup packs a solid sartorial punch featuring the world’s most beloved mouse.

A two-day fashion and shopping event held at the activity center of the Mega Fashion Hall, the set-up, bearing elements of the street scene, made up for a gathering that highlighted the featured collection. Much like every event has a defining feature, the highway steel trusses and signs – containing a large folded&hung sticker – gave a striking display to every spectator and shopper. Located outside the shopping area were real life photowall vignettes – school locker, café, bus stop – that became a hit with every passing spectator. A quick look at the event’s official hashtags #wearFHDisney and #iwearfoldedandhung on Instagram reveals different snapshots of faces gleaming with joy

Activities during the day included exclusive discount hours, a personal styling session with folded&hung’s very own creative styling team and a meet and greet session featuring the collection’s millennial ambassadors.

And as expected, legions of overzealous fans flocked to the session early morning on the 9th of September, all visibly eager to catch a glimpse of their favorite celebrity. Never to fail their favorites, the stars were received by their high-pitched screams and frenzied reactions similar to what would you expect from a sold-out teen pop star concert.

Fast forward to a few hours later, and the anticipation had doubled for the fashion show. With everyone already in their seats or in some fanatical cases, at their feet, the show opened with host Vince Velasco introducing special guest stylist Chris Diaz’s creations, followed by the creations of the 10 contestants of the Disney | folded&hung Style and Design competition. One of the styling contestants, Danica Familara, later went on to win the coveted title for her bow-inspired look. A magazine feature, cash prize, gift certificates, and an apprenticeship at folded&hung for next year’s Disney | folded&hung collection awaits her.

Soon after, all dressed in their Disney | folded&hung pieces, the millennial ambassadors took the runway one by one. Each ambassador fronted a complete ensemble that was paired with striking confidence and stage presence.

Afterwards, up and coming tween sensation Jack Reid – the face of the collection and younger brother of mega heartthrob James Reid – was introduced to a thunderous applause. Donning a red street bomber jacket with Mickey Mouse emblems, Jack shared how excited he is to have been given the chance to be the face of an exciting campaign for the millennial generation he represents.

As it always has been for folded&hung's collections, a grand culmination is not complete without the grand display of the wunderkinds and geniuses behind the cameras. Joining him and the rest of the Disney | folded&hung ambassadors were folded&hung Marketing Manager Arvie Dizon and its founder and CEO Mr. Ronald Pineda.

Capping the night's celebration was courtesy of DJ Rammy Bitong as he hit the stage and delivered another spectacular set of pulsating beats and feel-good tunes. Definitely another one for the books!
